Old roof off, deck repaired where needed, ice and water shield, then new shingles or membrane. Tarps go over the landscaping and the tear-off goes straight into our dump trailer.
We walk the roof and yard with you, run a magnetic sweep for stray nails, and the trailer leaves with us.

Call and askFor a straight like-for-like re-shingle — old asphalt off, new asphalt on, nothing structural touched — Ontario treats the work as ordinary maintenance and repair under the Building Code Act, and a permit is not normally required. That is true across the whole area we cover.
You do need one once the job stops being like-for-like: replacing sheathing beyond a repair, altering rafters or trusses, cutting a new skylight opening, changing a flat roof assembly, or switching material type. Who issues it depends on where you are. Hillsburgh and Erin go through the Town of Erin; Guelph through the City of Guelph; Fergus and Elora through Centre Wellington; Rockwood through Guelph/Eramosa; Acton and Georgetown through Halton Hills; Orangeville through its own town office. We tell you which side of that line your job falls on at the quote, not halfway through a tear-off.
It depends on size, pitch, how many layers have to come off, and the material — and around here those vary more than people expect. A 1970s bungalow in Fergus with a simple gable is not the same job as a steep century house on Guelph's older streets with three valleys and a chimney, and neither is the same as a rural farmhouse out on the concession lines where the crew is two storeys up in open-field wind.
That is why we price every roof after we have been on it. We do not quote from satellite images and we do not give a number over the phone, because the number would be wrong and you would find out during the tear-off.

An owner does every quote. The person who prices your roof is the person on it when the work gets done — there is no dispatcher and no rotating crew.
Home base is Hillsburgh, on Wellington Road 22 just outside Erin. From there we work Hillsburgh, Erin, Guelph, Fergus, Elora, Rockwood, Acton, Georgetown, Orangeville, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge.
We will be straight about distance. Erin and Guelph are minutes away. Kitchener and Cambridge are closer to an hour, which is fine for a re-roof we have scheduled and less useful if you need someone on a leak this afternoon.
Ice damming is the regional complaint, and it is almost never the shingles. Warm air escaping into the attic melts snow on the upper roof, the meltwater runs down to the cold overhang, freezes there, and the ridge of ice backs water up under the courses until it finds the ceiling below.
The fix is intake and exhaust, not more heat cable: clear soffit intake, a working exhaust path at the ridge, sealed attic bypasses, and eave protection membrane run far enough up the slope. It matters most on the higher, snowier ground — Orangeville sits noticeably above Guelph and gets the weather to match — and on big old farmhouses that leak a lot of heat upward. Two local notes. There is more cedar in the Erin and Elora countryside than the numbers suggest, and it lives or dies on whether it can dry from the back — we build the air gap in and use stainless fixings. And if your house is in a heritage conservation district, in Elora, Fergus, or Guelph's Brooklyn and College Hill, the material conversation happens before the quote, not after.
